An incisional hernia develops if the stitches have given way after a previous abdominal operation. It can happen after open operation or keyhole operation. The hernia gets larger with time and can be painful and unsightly. They can also strangulate.
This type of hernia needs treatment by an expert in this field. They can be fixed by open or keyhole method, depending on size and location. I perform these operations in high volume in very high risk patients with excellent results.
